Ludovic Sarmento est né en France en 1979, à Pauillac, au milieu des vignes du Médoc. Après des études aux Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux puis à la Faculté d’Arts Plastiques de cette même ville, il entame une carrière...
Ludovic Sarmento est né en France en 1979, à Pauillac, au milieu des vignes du Médoc.
Après des études aux Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux puis à la Faculté d’Arts Plastiques de cette même ville, il entame une carrière de Directeur Artistique dans la publicité. En parallèle il pratique alors la photographie en autodidacte, dans un style déjà très personnel, loin de celui des images produites dans son métier de publicitaire.
Au fil des années la pratique de la photographie a pris de plus en plus d’importance dans sa vie, au point de devenir sa principale activité.
Après un détour par la photo de reportage qui le conduisit à la rencontre des albinos de Tanzanie ou des réfugiés de la jungle de Calais, il se concentre sur la photo de studio.
La nature morte et le portrait deviennent alors ses deux sujets de prédilection.
Quant à ses photos de nu elles sont traversées, comme le reste de ses images, par une étrangeté singulière et une absence de concessions à un quelconque diktat du beau qui en fait la particularité et la force.
