JAMAIS ENTENDU. The title answers the question of how I feel about this work. "Never heard", when what was heard before is perceived as being heard for the first time. This picture is like a hymn to a summer day, which I once created, but then forgot. I remember my plein airs in the children's camp, when the sun was eternal, and painting, too. Over the years, I began to lose this feeling, but thanks to painting this picture, I felt capable of joy again.
The series "Underwater Music" began with the fact that I love mermaids since childhood. I like the idea of combining human and a fish. A familiar body and repulsive scales. Once when I was a child, my aunt and I had a picnic by the river, and she told me a story about seeing a mermaid. At our country house there was a large tank of water in which you could swim. It was a sunny day, and my aunt was sitting on a plank, swinging her legs in the water. At one point, she felt that someone was pulling her into the water, and she fell under. My aunt opened her eyes and saw a translucent humanoid silhouette. It was a girl. The sun shone through her watery hair, the glare danced everywhere, the water shimmered with summer light. My aunt was scared and couldn't see if the silhouette had a tail, or if it had legs. In Slavic mythology, there is a spirit of reservoirs, which is called a "Rusalka", it has no tail. We also call a mermaid a" Rusalka".
