Tomoko Takeda

Tomoko Takeda is a Japanese painter based in New York. Takeda was born in Saitama, Japan in 1975. Inspired by her parents' love of art and music, she began drawing from an early age. In 1995, she started working as a graphic designer in Tokyo. Through designing advertisements and product packaging, she became aware of the power of visual communication. In search of more human, sensory experiences, in contrast to her digital-oriented occupation, Takeda started working as a chef in 1999 and continued until 2018. Through this work, she developed a deep fascination with organic forms and the natural world. To engage with her interests creatively, she began taking painting classes in Tokyo. In 2019, Takeda relocated to New York to studying painting at The Art Students League of New York. She continues to develop her own visual language to explore the beyond.
