In these moving chords, I could smell the scent of the ancient roses from my dear friend Michele's garden and I saw his magnificent borzoi called Duca moving among the flowering plants with the grace only a sighthound can have…. And here! Liszt gave his interpretation of him to Schubert's songs by creating masterpieces of classical music: he took away the singing, but added his unsurpassed pianism. Why can't I also interpret the beauty of Michele's Garden using what I know how to do: photograph dogs?
Indeed, a dog, THE DOG: Duke.
Just as Liszt during his life transcribed about 50 of Schubert's songs, so too Michele and I begin to interpret the beauty of Duke and his Garden. I don't know if we'll get to 50 photographic portraits too, but in the meantime, here are the first ones.
Of course, the "soundtrack" cannot be missing, so this time I have associated with each photograph the lieder transcribed by Liszt in my favorite performances.

Tatsiana Melnikava è una fotografa di cani e ritrattista. Il suo lavoro è caratterizzato da un'illuminazione innovativa e lungimirante. È nata in Bielorussia nel 1970 e ha trascorso 24 anni come pianista al Conservatorio di Minsk. Si è recata a Kiev (Ucraina) nel 1995 per studiare fotografia presso la scuola Fotomaster di Alex Abramov, uno dei più rinomati fotografi ucraini. Leonid Levit, un brillante fotografo ritrattista, è stato anche uno dei suoi mentori.
Si è sposata nel 2006 e si è trasferita a Ravenna, in Italia, con suo marito Giovanni e i loro quattro meravigliosi cani Horowitz, Opalino, Rubelia e Soldino. Suo marito, un addestratore di cani ed etologo che ha scritto tre libri, la assiste nel suo lavoro.
Collabora alla realizzazione dei bijoux e degli accessori della collezione "Estro Armonico" con immagini di cani con le artigiane Camilla Coccari e Simona Morgagni. Con loro gestisce il laboratorio e mostra lo spazio del centro storico di Ravenna (dove si trova anche il suo piccolo Photo Atelier). Tra i suoi clienti ci sono diversi allevatori e cinofili italiani, oltre a quelli provenienti da Svizzera, Belgio, Austria, Francia, Germania, Finlandia e Russia.
