The painting has drawn inspiration from the poem 'Where the mind is without fear' by Rabindranath Tagore.

The exhibition,Timeless Tagore is a captivating collection of paintings by Sudakshina Ghosh, that portrays a vivacious visual narrative of selected poems by the celebrated Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), who was the first non-European to win the Noble Prize for Literature (1913); who wrote the national anthem of two nations (India and Bangladesh). This significant showcase, which symbolically opens on Tagore's birthday, marks the grand completion of 150 years after Tagore's birth.

TIMELESS TAGORE: Rabindranath Tagore's Poetry in Visual Art by Sudakshina Ghosh, which will open on 7 May 2011 at The Gallery of Gnani Arts. The exhibition features a captivating collection of paintings by Kolkata-born Sudakshina Ghosh that portrays the narrative essence of selected poems by the celebrated Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), who was the first non-European to win the Noble Prize for Literature (1913); who wrote the national anthem of two nations (India and Bangladesh). This significant showcase, which symbolically opens on Tagore’s birthday, will be Singapore-based Sudakshina Ghosh’s first-ever solo art exhibition. Artist CV
Sudakshina was born in Kolkata, India in 1952. From a very early stage in life, she was encouraged by her mother to learn various forms of art and craft and was given the freedom to explore. Being interested in science, she taught chemistry and math in middle and high school in India and abroad for three decades before becoming a professional artist. Sudakshina completed courses in Western art from Nanyang academy of fine arts, Singapore, but is mostly self taught. She enjoys working with traditional media, but for the past seven years she has been painting regularly with coffee on watercolour paper.
She exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in India, Singapore, U.K., and U.S.A. Works done with acrylic, charcoal, watercolour and coffee are with collectors in these countries.
