Steve Spid

I'm a french artist born in 1970 which work is about creating faces of unknown people.

My aim is to find the spirit of my subject through painting.

Drawing is something like realistic but the painting is expressionnist. I often paint a colored back and when it's done I'm sure that everything is still there. In this colored back there's already a spirit and I must find it.

Then I begin to draw my model with pastels using the colors of the back and then I paint without the photo of the model... I'm there totally free and I Can begin the searching of the spirit and modify the previous drawing as much as I want.

So I create new faces of unknown people... I think that in fact I paint the spirit...
