Stéphane Simon est né à Nancy (54). Il est issu d'une famille d'Ebenistes d'Art et grandi dans un environnement baigné par des réalisations Art Nouveau (mobilier Majorelle, Vallin,créations verrières Daum, Gallé, Muller Frères, peintures de Victor Prouvé...).Il est également particulièrement influencé par les créations du Design Jean Prouvé dont il admire le travail d'ingénierie à partir de la tôle pliée. Stéphane Simon s’imprègne par aille pendant toute son enfance des oeuvres gravées de Jacques Callot et Bellange à la dextérité sans égale, témoins de leur temps avec pour sujet la représentation des passions humaines,souvent comparés dans leur démarche à une travail journalistique. L'exploration des variations lumineuses et leurs impacts sur le sujet représenté qui caractérise la peinture de Claude Gelée et Georges de La Tour font partie des facteurs déterminants qui conduisent Stéphane Simon à démarrer une production photographique dès l'âge de 15 ans avec une première exposition en Galerie à l'âge de 18 ans,avant de s'adonner au dessin et à la peinture avec une prédilection pour le support papier.
Il décide de se consacrer à la représentation de la figure et du corps en mouvement après le choc pictural déclenché par la découverte de l'oeuvre naturaliste d'Emile Friant, notamment ses grands formats qui relèvent du prodige technique, où la vérité des émotions traduites et de l'âme humaine se révèle être le chemin qu'empruntera dorénavant Stéphane Simon à travers l'ensemble de sa production qui s'exprime via différents médiums d'expression: dessin,peinture,encres,sculpture.
Les créations de Stéphane Simon font aujourd'hui partie de plusieurs collections privées.
