Biography
Sasha Tovstik is a renowned Russian artist and fashion designer based between Bali and Saint Petersburg. Her creative path blends academic art education with Eastern spiritual traditions, resulting in artwork filled with symbolic depth, harmony, and uplifting energy.
Sasha has been painting for over 30 years, dedicating the past 15 years primarily to sacred geometry and spiritually inspired art. Her works are known for their transformational energy, meditative qualities, and ability to uplift and balance the surrounding space.
A graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics at Saint Petersburg State University, Sasha studied painting at the School of Visual Composition under the “Hermitage” artists’ group (1993–2000). Known for its deep analytical approach to the works of the Old Masters, this education shaped her artistic vision and refined her technical skill. She later continued her studies in Southeast Asia, exploring traditional arts, ceramics, and teaching painting, composition, and batik.
In 2009, Sasha relocated to Bali, beginning a new chapter in her creative journey. Influenced by meditation, Qigong, and sacred geometry, her artworks became more spiritually oriented and transformational. Her paintings are often described as visual healers — radiating joy, balance, and subtle energy that resonates with viewers on both emotional and intuitive levels.
Since 2014, she has been working with ceramics, developing a deep passion for traditional Japanese wood-firing (Anagama) and participating in the creative space of Gaya Art Ceramic Center. That same year, she began designing flowing silk garments — unique dresses and kimonos that she paints by hand like living canvases.
Sasha is also the author of five decks of metaphorical cards based on her paintings, including “108 Codes of the Universe” and several oracle sets inspired by essential oils. In 2018, she launched a line of artistic yoga mats, followed by a collection of wearable art called “Wings,” featuring scarves, tunics, and accessories inspired by angels and flight.
Nature is another key theme in her work. Sasha has created extensive series of mountain and sea landscapes, many painted en plein air during treks in the Caucasus and the Himalayas. She also paints flowers and portraits from life, celebrating the natural beauty of the world.
Sasha Tovstik is a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, the Professional Union of Artists, and the Association of Plein Air Artists. She has participated in over 50 exhibitions in Russia and internationally.
She creates only in a state of inner joy — believing that true art uplifts, heals, and transforms both space and spirit.

On August 20, the opening of the group exhibition Workshop took place at the Colors of Life Gallery in St. Petersburg. The show brings together artists who continue to develop their practice in the gallery’s studios.
The opening evening turned into a real celebration: the gallery’s halls were filled with guests, artists, and art lovers. A violinist performed live, creating a festive atmosphere, while visitors enjoyed champagne, treats, and lively conversations.
Among the participants is Sasha Tovstik, presenting two new seascapes — “Evening Wave Symphony” and “On the Edge of the Deep”. These expressive works reflect her ongoing exploration of the sea theme, developed under the guidance of painter Dmitry Roza. The canvases are filled with rhythm, depth, and light, capturing the living energy of the ocean.
Many warm words and heartfelt responses were shared about Sasha’s paintings during the opening. Such moments bring a special sense of connection and inspiration, showing once again that the sea remains an eternal source of strength and beauty for both artist and viewer.
The exhibition runs until September 1, and we invite everyone to visit the Colors of Life Gallery and see the works in person.

Where the Sky is Closer
From the Studio to the Summit of Elbrus
A personal exhibition by artist Sasha Tovstik will bring together works created over several years — from the meditative atmosphere of the studio to the extreme heights of plein air painting on the summit of Mount Elbrus.
The exhibition will feature large-scale sacred geometry paintings, as well as the premiere of the four-part series Angel Codes. Seasons. Tree of Life, a project that has taken three years to complete. Visitors will also see fresh plein air works from the Caucasus, including two unique paintings created at 5,642 meters above sea level, on the very top of Elbrus, as well as the artist’s expressive seascapes.

I’ve Returned from a Plein Air Expedition in the Caucasus — and from the Summit of Elbrus
at the top of Elbrus
I’ve just come back from an unforgettable plein air expedition in the Caucasus Mountains. During this journey, I created many new, vibrant, and soulful landscape paintings — each infused with the breath of the highlands.
But now I can share something I hadn’t spoken about before.
A dream. A bold and powerful one.
You see, I didn’t just go to the Caucasus to paint. I set out to climb to the summit of Mount Elbrus, and — if weather, timing, health, and countless other factors allowed — to try and paint directly from life at the top.
I wasn’t sure it would be possible. I considered every scenario: What if I had no strength left but still made it to the top? Then maybe I’d just open a canvas and, with a brush or even a hand, leave a few abstract gestures — something raw and alive, a mark of emotion from the summit itself.
But the mountain welcomed me.
And on July 6th, 2025, I reached the summit of Elbrus with surprising ease and joy, full of energy and light.
And there — almost at the very top — I painted two plein air works.
It was a moment of strength, clarity, trust, gratitude, and reverence.
It was about joy, focus, and the sacred dialogue between the human spirit and the mountain.
Very soon, you’ll see these new artworks from the Caucasus appear in my gallery — including those two special paintings created at nearly 5642 meters, just below the summit of Elbrus.
I’ll be keeping the original paintings in my personal collection, but prints will be available — as symbols of faith, inner resilience, and the quiet strength that helps us move forward.
Because any summit — even the highest — always begins within.

Dear friends,
I’m happy to share that I’ve set off on a plein air journey to the Caucasus Mountains. Ahead of me lie days filled with silence, altitude, and pure light. Surrounded by ancient peaks and endless skies, I will be painting directly from nature, immersing myself in the beauty, spirit, and strength of the mountains.
There will also be short hiking trips — with my sketchbook on my back and my heart wide open to the wild. In these quiet walks, the most honest and vivid works are born, infused with the breath of the moment and the essence of the landscape.
We’ll meet again on July 13 — with new paintings, new stories, and, I hope, the feeling that you too have touched the greatness of the Caucasus.

Light and Color – My Recent Exhibitions in Saint Petersburg
In April and May 2025, I had the pleasure of participating in two group exhibitions organized by the Decorative and Applied Arts section of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Both events took place in Saint Petersburg and were united under the theme "Light + Color", which felt very close to my heart.Showing my works in a shared space alongside other artists is always an important and inspiring experience. What touched me most was the genuine interest and emotional feedback from visitors. These moments of connection remind me why I create art — to share light, warmth, and inner transformation through visual form.The theme resonated deeply with my personal journey. After spending 12 years in Bali, my relationship with color changed significantly. My paintings became brighter, more expressive, and energetically open. Now, living again in Saint Petersburg, I sometimes return to a more subdued palette — but I continue to explore the power of color as a language of emotion and presence.
Looking ahead, I'm beginning to think about the next group exhibition, which will be titled "Seasons of the Year." I may include a triptych from my series "Tree of Life. Codes of Angels", but we’ll see what the year brings — perhaps new pieces will emerge.
