Santiago Escobar Jaramillo

Santiago Escobar-Jaramillo is an architect from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, with MA (merits) in Photography and Urban Culture from Goldsmiths College University of London. He has developed photographic projects in various countries from Africa, Asia, South America, Europe and United States of America. Santiago has received various recognitions and distinctions as well as have been part of over 70 national and international exhibitions, both group and solo shows, among which the most outstanding ones are 42 International Artists Room (Salon Nacional de Artistas) Santa Marta, International Image Festival (Festival Internacional de La Imagen) Manizalez, Transatlantic Photo (Transatlántica de Photo) Spain in Montevideo and Oaxaca, CubanPhotograph Library (Fototeca de Cuba) at Havana City, International Art Fairs and at Harvard University (DRCLAS) as well as MIT (Community Innovators Lab) with the project “Colombia, tierra de luz” (Colombia, land of light) –. Santiago has published various books with Villegas Editores since 2010 as “Apartments Bogota”, “Solidary Colombia” and “London Gap My Mind” with Agora Produccion Cultural. He also performs as speaker, jury and professor. He directed workshops for National Geographic Student Expeditions, ACNUR-ONU, Don Bosco-Camboya, National Bank (Banco de la Republica) and Zona Cinco where he is currently directing Miradas Programme. Since 2013 he is member of the Association of Urban Photographers in London (), of Hydra in Mexico () and the Photography Collective +1. He has recently been named as “X-Photographer” for FUJUIFILM Colombia, who supports his project “URBAN DWELLERS” where he registers different urban tribes, social groups and unions in the city (photographers/es/santiago_escobar_jaramillo)
