Sabriye Şeker is a Turkish artist born in 1960, known for her work in Tezhip (illumination) and Miniature painting.
Her artistic journey began in 1987 when she joined the courses of Prof. A. Süheyl Ünver at the Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, Department of Deontology. She later received training from renowned masters such as Cahide Keskiner, Semih İrteş, and Mamure Öz. She also studied Tezhip at Sema Nakkaşhanesi and took miniature lessons from Nilgün Gencer.
Şeker is recognized for her contemporary interpretations of traditional miniature art. She held special exhibitions with Turgay Tuna, titled “From Hebdomon to Bakırköy” and “From Ayastefanos to Yeşilköy”, and her miniature works were featured in books of the same names. Together with artist Etem Çalışkan, she participated in exhibitions such as “Atatürk Exhibition” and “Karacaoğlan and Embroidered Ornaments”.
She has represented Turkey on international platforms, exhibiting her work in cities like Hong Kong, London, New York, and Italy.
Since 2002, she has continued her work at her own studio, Şeker Sanatevi, where she both creates her art and teaches students. Her works are featured in various collections and books, and she continues to teach illumination art.
She is also the author of books such as “Yol Arkadaşım Sanat: Hat, Tezhip, Minyatür” (“My Companion Art: Calligraphy, Illumination, Miniature”) and “Aşk Sanat ile Buluştu: Tezhip, Minyatür, Sanat Buluşma” (“Love Met with Art: Illumination, Miniature, Art Gathering”).
