Rutko

My full name is Martins Rutkovskis, I was (born January 30,1978) I, had graduated from Riga School of Design and Art (former Riga College of Applied Arts) and after having been offered a scholarship at the prestigious San Francisco Academy of Art College, moved to USA to study Industrial design. Only recently I decided to start painting, and I was starting to take painting classes by Latvian artists: Ralfs Jansons and Kaspars Zariņš. Inspiration for my paintings is to draws mostly action and psychological horror films, also portraits and flowers. I like to transform passion for genres into slightly exaggerated, bright and peculiar portraits of popular film characters. Colour in my paintings is usually applied in quick strokes using the knife technique which allows my to work more efficiently and complete works in a rather short period of time.
