Giovanna Garofalo nasce a Palermo il 24 marzo del 1976. Fin da bambina manifesta spiccate doti artistiche. La sua passione per il disegno e le arti pittoriche, la spingono ad iscriversi al Liceo Artistico “Eustachio Catalano" di Palermo, conseguendo il diploma nel 1994. Nell’anno successivo frequenta un breve corso di restauro di dipinti su tela e tavola, organizzato da“ENDAS” Regione Sicilia: ultima tappa di un percorso iniziato con entusiasmo ed interrotto da scelte che la allontaneranno per diversi anni dal mondo dell’arte. Nel 1995 si iscrive al Corso di Laurea in Psicologia ( indirizzo psicologia dello sviluppo e dell'educazione) presso l’Università degli Studi di Palermo, laureandosi nel 2004. In questo lungo periodo, trascorso a studiare i meccanismi della mente umana e argomenti affini, l’amore per il disegno e la pittura non si è mai spento. Nel 2005 si trasferisce a Roma dove vivrà per 14 anni. Dopo aver trascorso qualche anno tra tirocinio post lauream e lavoro presso una cooperativa sociale, decide di dedicarsi esclusivamente all'arte.Da allora ha realizzato una notevole quantità di dipinti con svariate tecniche, spaziando dai ritratti a soggetti più intimisti, nel tentativo di rappresentare, raccontare, far parlare le emozioni. Ha partecipato a decine di collettive a Roma e provincia e in altri comuni italiani, fra cui Sanremo,Trento e Palermo.
