Zucca (2020) Картина - Simone Giaiacopi

My paintings are on plywood upon which I layer a thin sheet of paper. This process helps the oil contained in the media to run smoothly on the surface while being rapidly absorbed, and this, in turn, enhances the surface of my work by giving prominence to the texture.
While my painting could look almost photographic at first sight, a closer observation will reveal the density of its texture, its layers, and the myriads of brushstrokes.
I painted the fruit/vegetable with a very small brush and small, precise strokes in order to enhance all the details, almost as if the piece was made of individually painted pixels. This is further enhanced by the background which, in stark contrast with the main subject is more uniform, and which therefore serves the purpose to highlight the subject and its textures even more.
