Biography
Art On The Green founder Richard Mangold trained at Kingston and Reading Colleges of Art.
Current projects include his Plage Collection, the study of horizons where sea meets sky.
Recently I have been occupied with what I call The Mangold Polytope. It’s the merger of three shapes within a five sided shape. The Polytope lends itself aesthetically, and technically near perfect.
For the viewer; intuitive notions of shape, inspiring cognitive ability, development of spatial awareness, hand to eye Co ordination, mechanical reasoning, perspective; thought processing.
To be used in education, helping a developing mind, the process of reasoning; learning through attachment to The Mangold Polytope, ie. Colour, primary’s and the mixing of secondary colours.
Cognative, lending itself relative to the shape it represents as The Polytope rotates, it seemingly changes from Square to Circle ⭕️ and then to Triangle.
This understood, The Mangold Polytope via means of rotation, The Polytope forms all three shapes; affectively merged. Both sophisticated and complex in form, but simple and understandable in design.

Colour Psychology
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Colours of The Rainbow.
When placed in certain orders the perception is mood changing or influencing.
Richard utilizes this theory when creating relaxing sublime images.
The Evolution of colour psychology.
Red; Could it be that red is the first colour we may have perceived, in our mothers womb, vaguely seeing light from the corners of our eyes. Does this suggest that we learnt, that red is good, giving uslife blood rich in our ancestry as Humans.
On the flip side does this mean that when our mothers were stressed we also perceived that Red told us to STOP?
Orange; When early man saw the sun rise he may have seen that Orange was an intermediate stage, through to yellow, the dawning of all creation, and perception as God had planned. Seven days, seven colours? science fact or otherwise? Orange through to yellow has a symbiotic rythm as in our own biology.
Yellow; Full sun rise, bright optomistic and warming, speeding all chemical reactions giving us faith and desire to forage and become triumphant.
From an Artistic standpoint providing us with some fascinating shadows and perspectives.
Green; A growth colour colour a synthesis of water (Blue) and light (Yellow). Early man saw this as a source of nutrition and medication flipping this one he saw sickness through envy and overindulgence.
Blue; Through water we are all connected, likewise in air, a primary colour of some significance relaxing cool on the eye, though interestingly people with Blue eyes are said to have more headaches; Is this because more of the absorbed blue colour has been filtered and thus sensitises the registry of the perception.
Indigo; A deeper blue a wonderfull pigment found in India used to chill us all out in our favourite pair of jeans, and finally Violet.
Violet; Completing the spectrm bringing us back to the stat again a colour used by spiritualists to suggest a Heavenly Calm.
