Gold Medal 2006 Internazionale d`Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. Ferrara. Italy and voted Member of the Accademia del Verbano di Lettere,Arti Scienze.Represented at The Royal Academy and Irish Exhibition of Living Art. His life portrait of Francis Bacon is in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery London.(http//.uk).In the late 1950s and early 60s Gray was part of The School of London which was led by Bacon, Freud and Aurbach.First oneman exhibition, Abbott & Holder Gallery, London.1960. His portraits from life include writers and artists August John,Patrick Swift,Samuel Beckett,Brendan Behan,G.Y.Dryansky and Jill Neville,(collection National Portrait Gallery, Australia),Miss Laura Parker Bowles, the prince of Brunei, actors Julitte Binoche, Gian Maria Volontè and Laurent Terzieff.and Britpop Musician Justine Frischmann.One of his rare street scenes, Kensington High St.1957.is in the collection of The Museum of London. He has created two bookcovers for the prominent Irish poet Derry O'Sullivan and portrayed the local Dublin poet Séan Brophy.The New York film director Kerry Franzman produced the film "Portrait of a Portrait Artist" on the life of Gray which was selected for the New York Film Festivel December 2001. In February 2002 Gray was elected an offical member of The American Society of Portrait Painters
