▶︎ "Naked" is built on contrasts. Flesh and skin color nuances and their complementary hues (blues and greens), the gentle curves, contrasted with the clean lines of the spikes, softness of the flesh dragging down the body, versus the spikes, reaching for a higher intellectual and spiritual elevation. Solid versus Fluid, Hard versus Soft, Sharp versus Malleable, Flesh versus Spirit.

Purely an abstract painting, the viewer has the choice to ignore the title and let themselves be drawn in by the contrasting shapes and colors, and absorb the overall feeling of the painting, or on the contrary reflect on it, searching for body parts and limbs that are not there. The painting wants to be an exploration of the human nature. The drops, almost decaying give a feeling of "dragging down" and uneasiness, while the spikes reach towards the stars in a clean line.

But we must go beyond that contradiction, in an attempt to reach a harmony of colors and shapes, reconciling flesh and spirit into a whole, complete resonating body. Naked.

▶︎ “Naked” is part of a series of Abstract paintings submitted for the Luxembourg Art Prize 2020, that I am now releasing as Limited Editions (60). A small number of these fine-art prints are made on canvas and embellished by hand with Acrylic paint and medium to give it texture and make each one a unique piece.
