Daniela Viecelli Ianculescu

California artist Daniela Viecelli Ianculescu is a graduate of the University of Michigan Penny Stamps School of Art and Design with a Master of Art in Graphic Design and Industrial Design.

After a career dedicated to Graphic, Industrial and Exhibit Design, she is now captured by the Fine Arts expression of Art. During the last 10 years, the artist traveled extensively through the United States and abroad, visiting Art Museums, sketching and painting in watercolors on location.

Believing that working from life is ideal, she always carries watercolors and an assorted number of different size pads for really quick sketches or more elaborate ones. When time is very short, she employs a fountain pen with water soluble ink and a water brush. She also takes reference pictures whenever possible.

Back in the studio, she develops the sketches combined with details from the photos into bigger size paintings in oil and acrylic. If needed, in the cases of figures, she resorts to the mirror for anatomical details.

Recently, the artist participated in the LST 9th All Women Exhibition on Jan 1-31, 2020, receiving a “Special Merit” and a “Special Recognition Award”. She also received a “Special Recognition Award” from the participation in the CityScapes 2020 Online Art Competition.
