Qual é a origem da técnica encáustico

A pintura encáustica é feita a partir de uma mistura de pigmentos dissolvidos em cera fundida. Encaustic é uma preparação à base de cera de abelha (aglutinante) e diferentes essências (essência de terebintina, pigmentos de cor). É usado para conservar móveis e encerar pisos de parquete, mas essa mistura também é usada na pintura. A pintura encáustica, ou pintura em cera, é conhecida desde a Antiguidade e diz respeito principalmente à pintura em madeira. Seu uso mais antigo remonta aos retratos do Fayum, encontrados em sarcófagos no Egito que datam do século I ao século V.
