Nicholas Poullis was born in the UK in 1974. He became a professional artist after leaving the University of East Anglia where he graduated as an illustrator (BA Hons). He won the famous Baker Tilly Prize awarded by the Royal Watercolor Society, where his works are regularly exhibited. His work has been exhibited in many London clubs including the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolor, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and the Sunday Times Watercolor Competition.
Nicholas' watercolors are part of many prestigious collections such as that of Saint John's College, the University of Cambridge, the Baker Tilly Chartered Accountant, the Royal Automobile Club, or the senior officer of the Royal Air Force and the Pézenas Tourist Office. They also enrich many private collections.
In parallel with his career as an artist, Nicholas regularly writes articles for the specialist magazine The Artist and he has illustrated several books. He has also published a very popular series of books on the region.
In 2003, Nicholas moved with his family to Languedoc, a beautiful region in the south of France. Since then he has had many successful exhibitions.
Nicholas always paints outdoors. This allowed him to travel all over Europe, in search of new subjects to paint. He has painted several collections of watercolors in the United Kingdom, Spain and Italy. All these collections having as themes sites of cultural importance.
