I think that the Artist's mission is not only to show the Truth that people can't or want no more to see. The Artist can do more: he/she can turn the Truth in Hope, Beauty, and Love. The true Artist, the one who really believes, can create inspiration for everyone to live according to the Good.
For what I can express through my Art, through the unique essence coming from my inspiring Muses - Painting, Music and Theatre- this was, this is and this will be also my mission.
My name is Gryte. I am a lithuanian portrait painter. I was born in a family of artists (my father, Algirdas, is an actor, my loved mother Viktorija was teacher and poet). Since the very beginning, I felt the need to express my emotions with the freedom that my parents and the context around gave to me, through drawing (my first exhibition was when I was 4 years old).
For my creations I chose the portraiture basically for two reasons. Firstly, I really love the unique intangible psychological experience with the human consciousness and sub consciousness; I can feel really full when I get the response of the vibrations of the heart of the hero I am painting. Secondly, it's really a wonderful challenge for me to give life to invisible and hidden emotions through expressive dabs .During my early art studies I was for one year in Finland, at Kankaapaa School of Arts, under the student exchange program This time, in direct contact with the North landscapes (so different from the ones of my country), influenced my later works especially in the research of new, fresh and bright combinations of colours.
After the Bachelor and the Master of Arts (Painting) in Vilnius Art Academy, in 2000 I got the award for the best painting in the exhibition "One Picture Contest" in Vilnius. In 2004 I received an analogue award in the exhibition "The best work of the year" in Kaunas with the painting "Aneles rytas" ("The morning of Anele"), which I consider one of my best portraits from my early period.
I organized 36 personal exhibitions and partecipated in several group exhibitions (in China, Italy,Finland, Belarus, Denmark, Latvia and Lithuania) and international Art Symposia and Plein Airs (the most important were in China and in Latvia). Today my paintings are in some Lithuanian an Latvian museums and galleries, in China (Beijing and X'ian National Art Museums) and in several private collections in USA, England, Italy, Germany, Finland, France, Russia.
