Alberta's mother came to us in a shocking state. She had been set on fire and was emaciated. She required an extraordinary amount of care and we failed to see that she was pregnant. Eventually she gave birth to five healthy kittens - Alberta is one of them and lives in our house. The style of the painting is based on the surrealist work of Magritte. The farm fields in the background are reminiscent of the Sacramento Valley here in California near our Rescue Center. Painting was a joint venture with Anastasia Nelson.

Phil Dynan is an American painter and sculptor who has exhibited his works throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. With a career spanning over 50 years, he has experimented with varying styles and mediums. Having mainly used serigraphy and acrylics in his art, he now paints using water-based oils, which facilitates blending. Dynan also creates 3D, Reverse Perspective, viewer-interactive wall sculptures made from Birch and oil or acrylics.
