La Beauté d'Art Nouveau - 22.04.1993 - 15.05.1993

Art Nouveau de Bruxelles à Bruxelles
I love to paint Art Nouveau with passion as it has an architectural and organic structure as well. Painting all these arabesques of wrought iron's balustrades, candle-sticks, furniture and stained-glass windows I want to create an illusion of space which wrap his arms around us. When I saw Brussels' interior of Horta House for the first time
I was enchanted by all that space, watching how balustrade twist around I felt I was organic part of that movement. I was looking for in my mind the way how to reveal all those effects by watercolour. There was no any hudge surfaces of wall or vault as I knew from cathedrals. I imagined that I should paint that kind of space in distracted light twisted around me which should help all forms to grow and to make an illusion of still mouvement. Painting some streets of Florence or Venice's small chanels I had a common "obsession" to move the walls by painting a sunlight which create long shadows slide down on the walls.
