Paul Cowling

Paul Cowling was born in Feltham, near London in 1925, after leaving the army after the war, where he served in Northern Europe, he studied law at Oxford. He began to paint in the early 1960s. He was interested in all genres of painting, still life, landscape and portraiture and painted mainly in oils. He was a prolific draughtsman and filled many, many sketchbooks. He travelled extensively (when he could be persuaded to do so by his wife, June) and produced many paintings from these adventures. He enjoyed the ambiance of the ‘art class’ and attended many over the years from life drawing to portrait painting to painting in the landscape. He exhibited regularly with the Law Society and Richmond Art Group.
Paul Cowling died in September 2009 and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
