In this cityscape, Boichenko treats architecture as a memory field. The brick façade is blocked in with opaque gouache, then broken by scumbled strokes and lifted highlights that mimic the patina of age. A band of sour-green sky presses against the roofline, while a screen of dark trunks and branches frames the building like calligraphy. The solitary walker—rendered in compact, simplified shapes—introduces scale and narrative without disturbing the stillness. Textures shift from velvety, layered mids to transparent edges; you can feel the artist moving between wet-on-wet diffusion and crisp dry-brush to toggle depth. Windows flicker as abstract rectangles, some muted, some catching a hint of reflected light, as if morning is just beginning.

Boichenko’s practice is rooted in the Ukrainian urban experience yet speaks in a universal visual language. Active across impressionism, cityscape, and abstraction, he distills scenes into essential forms and tonal harmonies. His works have been presented widely: a solo exhibition at Modi Wine Gallery (Kyiv, 2024), group shows at Modi (2024), Lapidarium in Prague (2024), Globus Gallery (Kyiv, 2023), and an earlier solo at Art L Gallery (Zaporizhia, 2020). What distinguishes him is the ability to balance structure and atmosphere—clarity of drawing with the tenderness of light—so that the commonplace becomes quietly profound.
