Al tien jaar lang creëert en ontwikkelt de hedendaagse fotograaf René Roeser zijn surrealistische werken met grote authenticiteit. Met een sterk gevoel voor authenticiteit exposeert hij in binnen- en buitenland en werd hij geselecteerd in de 2020-editie van de 100 Hundredize Annual Book Best Selected. Hij wordt ook vertegenwoordigd door de Agora-galerij in New York.
De foto's van René Roeser lijken op het eerste gezicht combinaties van gebouwen, mensen en alledaagse voorwerpen, dat wil zeggen het dagelijks leven; toch wordt deze schijnbare vertrouwdheid op het tweede gezicht tot het absurde doorgedrongen.
Beïnvloed door surrealistische schilders gebruikt hij zijn camera om kleine voorwerpen (zoals een zandloper of metalen voorwerpen zoals sneeuwballen) in de natuurlijke ruimte te plaatsen om een nieuwe en ongewone situatie te creëren.
Deze conceptuele foto's verschijnen als verrassende en slimme constellaties, waarbij we eerst met een glimlach reageren en vervolgens proberen de betekenis van de weergegeven objecten te verduidelijken.
Hoewel Roesers onderwerpen en interventies minimaal en paradoxaal lijken, als verhalen zonder begin of einde, richten ze zich op de zoektocht naar een balans tussen leven en dood en tegelijkertijd op hun realistische status en genereren ze de mogelijkheid van een nieuwe realiteit.
Deze illusie heeft uiteindelijk tot doel de verwachting, de rede en de objectiviteit van de toeschouwer te confronteren...
