Melanie Maquinay was Born in february 1978, in Belgium.
Previously a resident in Brussels, Maidstone UK, San Francisco California. She currently lives in the countryside around Liège, Belgium.
She tells us : "As a child I was just drawing on my own, as a teenager I was painting on weekends and experimenting with papier mâché sculptures. I had to wait until after high school to follow a proper artistic education : a one year foundation in fine Arts at KIAD (Kent Institute of Art and Design, UK ) and 4 years program in Fashion Design at La Cambre, Brussels Belgium finest Art School."
Art : Paintings : "I experimented a lot with clothes and fabrics stuck on the canvas, playing with the 3D effect and the clothes own personality."
"I'm highly interested in the sense of life and movement that a painting can reflect. Therefore, I use live models to draw their outline on canvas, before adding imaginary shapes and vivid colors to the base lines.
I'm a dreamer and I love to try out many many things in life, sometimes all at once !"
"You could find all sorts of imaginary faces, shapes, figures and creatures in my drawings and paintings.
I currently work with digital art tools, beginning with a hand drawing, and then creating shapes on the canvas by using a laser cutting tool, to engrave the designs on the surface." All my art work can travel abroad for sale, and it is also available for rent in Belgium, France, Holland and Luxembourg
