Thierry Corpet, alias Raymond X is een hedendaagse Franse schilder en beeldhouwer. Corpet maakt mysterieuze beeldgedichten en bedenkt kleine verhaaltjes. Hij deconstrueert de beelden en voegt de vormen samen, met behulp van de opdeeltechniek van William Burroughs, en stelt ze vervolgens opnieuw samen, recyclet en reïncarneert ze, dit alles om de levenscyclus te verklaren. Hij probeert verschillende grafische technieken uit waarin vormen en materialen op elkaar inwerken en gelaagd zijn om zijn wereldbeeld te bevestigen. In 2019 begon hij nieuwe materialen in zijn werk te gebruiken en begon hij miniatuursculpturen te maken, assemblage van geverfd hout, totems tussen abstractie en figuratie.
Zijn doeken getuigen, net als zijn sculpturen, van het totaal aan producten en dingen die we, bewust of onbewust, in onze hersenen verzamelen, zoals zoveel kasten vol met verouderde levensfragmenten.
Thierry Corpet werd geboren in 1965 in Frankrijk. Hij is een nationaal bekende kunstenaar en werd in heel Frankrijk tentoongesteld.
