Carlos Vieira is een fotograaf, die zich altijd aangetrokken heeft gevoeld tot montage, speciale effecten en de kunst om echt te maken wat er niet is. Dankzij digitale tools oriënteerde hij zijn werk snel op fotomontage en het aanpassen van kunstwerken.
Als kunstenaar die zich voortdurend ontwikkelt, ontdekt en onderzoekt hij nooit verschillende technieken, die hij ontwikkelt om ze met precisie onder de knie te krijgen, zonder zijn extreme gevoeligheid te verliezen. Pen, inkt, collage, acrylverf en olieverf zijn disciplines die hij beheerst, zonder er ook maar één te verlaten.
Het is met acryl dat hij nu werken maakt die vaak goed ingekaderd zijn, met een compositie gebaseerd op eenvoudige maar precieze geometrische vormen en effen kleurvlakken. We kunnen dan een min of meer uitgesproken grafische vereenvoudiging waarderen, soms tot abstractie. Gordijnen, kleuren, lichten en composities trekken de aandacht om emoties op te wekken.
Carlos Vieira Mendes werd geboren in het centrum van Angola in 1954. Hij is afgestudeerd bij de luchtmacht en architect-ontwerper in civiele techniek. Hij is een amateur en autodidactisch kunstenaar. Hij woont al meer dan 20 jaar in Lausanne (Zwitserland).
