Samuel Dougados is een kunstenaar die gespecialiseerd is in strandkunst, een soort graffiti die bij eb op stranden wordt gemaakt. Dit werk is tweeledig van aard, aangezien hij strandkunst fotografeert. Door verschillende aspecten van fotografie te integreren, creëert hij een aparte sfeer en een meer poëtische lezing van het stuk.
Hij maakt grote fresco's op het strand met het unieke gereedschap van een hark bij eb. Deze discipline, die qua impulsief, gratuit karakter en toe-eigening van de gemeenschappelijke ruimte vergelijkbaar is met straatkunst, stelt hem in staat zich uit te drukken op een manier die geen enkel ander medium kan. Hij heeft geen kader, geen grenzen, behalve die opgelegd door het opkomende tij.
Samuel Dougados werd geboren in 1976 en is een autodidactische kunstenaar. Hij verblijft momenteel in Biarritz, de zuidwestelijke regio van Frankrijk. Zijn werk is opgenomen in een aantal openbare en particuliere collecties, waaronder het Institut Culturel Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux, evenals door een aantal particuliere verzamelaars. Hij nam deel aan talrijke tentoonstellingen en ontving talrijke onderscheidingen. In 2011 kroonde hij zich tot de eerste wereldkampioen strandkunst in Jersey.
