Gérard Capron kwam tot de schilderkunst door een reeks ontmoetingen die hem gaandeweg naar een persoonlijke benadering leidden. Later verrijkte hij zijn opleiding door lessen te volgen aan de Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rouen.
Gevoed door zijn reizen die hij kon maken, brengt hij in zijn schilderkunst elementen die door zijn omzwervingen worden gevoed. Opnieuw bezocht door zijn geheugen en zijn eigen verbeelding. Maar vooral in de menselijke figuur lijkt hij zijn meest terugkerende onderwerp te hebben gevonden. Hij was ook geïnteresseerd in de derde dimensie, die hij door middel van beeldhouwkunst kon ervaren.
Als hij de neiging heeft afstand te nemen van de conventionele figuratie, kan hij het niet helpen om de menselijke aanwezigheid op te roepen.Hij heeft wat lucht nodig tussen twee series schilderijen. Wat hem interesseert is het plezier van avontuur en de behoefte om naar nieuwe dingen te gaan.
Gérard Capron woont en werkt in Duclair (Frankrijk). Hij nam deel aan tal van tentoonstellingen: Art Paris en Luxemburg in 2022, Art3f Lyon in 2019…. Zijn werk is aanwezig in vele privécollecties.
