Natalia Belalova is a visual artist and photographer. She was born in 1978 in Maykop, KrasnodarKrai, Russia. Growing up in a home filled with art books—collected by her mother through herprofessional work—Natalia was immersed in visual culture from a young age. As a child, she cutout paper figures and imagined them becoming part of masterpieces by great painters, an earlyexpression of her imaginative and artistic mind. In 2007, Natalia moved to Sochi, where she received a degree in exhibition and decorativedesign. Years of working in this field deepened her interest in symbolism, ornamentation, andvisual storytelling.Natalia's painting style combines figurative naïveté with postmodern references and a strongdecorative aesthetic. Her “paper people” appear flat, geometric, and stylized, drawing influencefrom Paul Gauguin, the Nabis group, and retro-futuristic aesthetics. Her works are bothdecorative and deeply meaningful—merging childlike fantasy with the visual maturity of20th-century art.Her artistic inspirations include modernism, Art Deco, the avant-garde, Cubism, retrofuturism,and Surrealism—yet her paintings maintain a distinctive and contemporary signature style.Alongside painting, Natalia is also an accomplished photographer whose works have beenfeatured in internationally renowned magazines.
