My name is Tracey, and I am reluctantly selling some of my Mother's paintings. Nancie Richers Colbert Case was born on April 25, 1947, and passed away on October 30, 2022. Unfortunately, she could not paint for the last five or so years of her life. She was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, which caused her to have double vision and be dizzy when she was in an upright position.
My Mom has been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, and she showed me some of her early work as far back as when she was in high school. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts for painting. She had a difficult childhood due to her being put up for adoption at an early age and never quite feeling completely loved. But she could pour out her feelings in her journal writings and paintings. Even though she had a difficult childhood, she had unconditional love for me. She was passionate about journaling, growing plants, painting and spending time with her two Arabian mares she raised from foals.
My Mom and Stephen Case, her husband, moved from Stewart, Florida, to North Carolina to live with my family in 2016. We worked together to build a guest house on our property, and the house included a beautiful studio full of windows and light so that my Mom could paint. Unfortunately, almost as soon as she moved in, the dizziness started and she started having trouble with her vision. I was lucky to be able to be able to be with my Mom and Steve during COVID and in the last few years of their lives as their health declined.
Steve Case passed away October 11, 2022 just a little over two weeks before my Mother passing. I miss them both very much. Some of my mom's artwork is quite large, and I do not have enough wall space to display her work. I have the art in my spare bedroom to keep it in a temperature-controlled environment. I am looking to have her pieces go to somewhere where the art can be enjoyed.
