Marica Radojčić (Prešić): ART BIGRAPHY
Marica Radojčić was born in Novi Karlovci, Yugoslavia. Graduated and obtained Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Belgrade.
Her mathematical papers belong to universal algebra, numerical mathematics and mathematical linguistics. Fulbright award for mathematics for the academic 1985/86 which she spent at the Courant Institute, New York University.
Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mathematics and the University of Art, Belgrade, Group for Digital Art. Visiting professor at the University of California - Berkeley, University of Hamburg, University of Bon, MGU - Moscow etc.
Her mathematical results have been included in international mathematical monographs and scientific papers.
Her art is of contemplative nature, experimental and multimedial, based on mathematical and philosophical ideas (semantical layers of language, paradoxes, infinity, algorithms, truth theories,…).
Since 1985 she has had exhibitions in New York Galleries (4 solo shows and around 20 group shows there). Participated in several important international shows in Europe, USA, Africa.
In 1993 she founded Mathematical Art Workshop (at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade), and 1998 she founded association Art and Science, both meant to be places where connections and interrelations between art and science would be explored.
In 2002 with a couple of other artists she founded Postgraduate Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Art Belgrade, Group f or Digital Art where she was teaching for 4 years.
For many years she has been occupied with organization and production of projects both artistic and scientific. Collaborates with a number of artists and scientists around the world. Member of ULUS and IKG.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10…Further, further, further… Up to the dark side of the moon. For Tesla nothing was impossible…
On the surface layer the performance STRINGING is based on the folk customs from Tesla's homeland –Lika: decorating of the bride and the folk dance Lika's Mute – without singing, without instrumentals, just the sound of stepping and the ducats tinkling the girls have around their necks (the sound track of the ensemble Kolo dancing is used).
On the deeper layer is Tesla's counting, in the performance represented by stringing of pearls. Slowly and persistently: pearl by pearl. One by one…

The contemporary world is becoming more and more alienated. The man himself has contributed a great deal in making the wall between him and exterior. In such a way he is in fact walling many exits in.
Starting from that idea Marica Radojčić walled in an entrance in the brick furnace and herself inside it. After one week she destroyed the wall from inside and made herself free. Is that freedom definite the artist is not quite sure…
The performance took place in the frame of the log lasted international festival Erasing, that was happening in July 2005 in the brick factory Tera Nova 98, located in the environment of Belgrade.

Multimedia festival Korona//Experimental Intermedia in Cologne , lasted 18. January - 9. February, took place on several locations (galleries, churches, cultural centres and non-official places).
This year festival has been foxed on the work of Phill Niblock, American composer, film and video maker. Apart of concerts of Phill Niblock's music, projections of his early short films, multimedia events included Phill Niblock's electronic music, projections of his new video works and live performances of his compositions, several close friends and collaborators of Phill Niblock have been invited to the Festival to make their tributes.
One of them, Marica Radojčić showed a video installation Walling In. It was in fact a spatial projection of the video recorded during her performance that took place last year in the Brick Factory Tera Nova 98 in the frame of the project Erasing 2005.
