"Des édentés médiévaux aux souverains de l’Égypte antique et de la linguistique à la médecine, les travaux de Maïa Lacoustille résultent d’enquêtes transhistoriques qui interrogent la genèse, la circulation et le contrôle des corps, des savoirs et des techniques. Excavant les sujets les plus profondément enfouis sous l’imaginaire collectif, elle se joue des fantasmes populaires et des réalités que l’histoire dominante choisit de mettre de côté pour construire de nouveaux scénarios tournés vers les marges. Entre histoire individuelle et histoire collective, ses œuvres protéiformes - notamment la sculpture, le son, l’installation et la performance - assument un système de production précaire et une esthétique brute, DIY ou bricolée dont la reconfiguration constante soutient la liberté de forme et de discours.
