Ma Bella Ponferrada
i have always believed in a universal rhythm. be it in verse, pigment, stroke, beat, note, or body language.
even as we listen to the weighty thumping of the train, the constancy of the waves hitting the shore, or the repetitive stroking and turning of a child suffering from autism.
there is a necessary steadiness in the act of physical consummation as in the pulsatile heartbeat.
there is the certainty of death...and birth.
it is a primal impulse to seek out a certain pattern -- something we could habituate to and familiarize our senses with. with pattern comes cycle. and with cycle, there is rhythm.
it is such that we have art.
once we learn to silence ourselves long enough to recognize the humming inside, it will just resonate..
and as we realize the enormity of the things that we do not understand-- as we every so often tire of our regimented lives-- we are comforted knowing that somehow, this pace is set into motion by a Being higher than ourselves...who is just as beautiful, if not, exceedingly -- who orchestrates everything ---
who tailored the motions of the planets along their orbits after the motions of the electrons around
the nucleus.
who decides when each of us will be born and how painfully or beautifully we each must live ---
who will ultimately decide when the time for rest will come...
indeed, we have an immense God.

i was raised in a little town called "tunga", which literally means "half". you see, now,i am half a physician and half an artist.
i started painting when i was in highschool. and while i was taking up psychology in college, i'd have some lessons in music and arts. i took up summer classes at the UP college of fine arts while i was in medical school (at about the same time i ventured into poetry). finally, while i was having my internship at the national kidney institute, i had my first solo exhibition.
i'd like to think the style that i'm trying to develop is somehow contemporary but not as inaccessible to the senses.
