M.J. Veldhuis (Labacadabra)

Hi, here you see fifteen years of photographic work of mine.  In the 80's my father photographed almost every aspect, life event of my life and then those were made into slides. After his death, those remain untouched. Later, I pick up photography myself. This without an expensive professional training and completely self-taught, I follow my own path. Decades later, looking through my father's photographic work again, I see that much of my photographic work has similarities to his. The angle, the incidence of light and the angles of view regularly match. Without having seen the photographic work before. So I really got the photographic work from my father.

Over the years I have visited many countries, but for now you see mainly the photographic work from about 10 countries that I have recently selected. So you see a lot of photographic work from “my capital” Berlin passing by. As a most recent project, I made a coffee table photo book with a selection from that 15 years of photographic work. It has no other stories. No who, what, where entry. Just photos. Just like here.So the book is called 'No context'. Just looking at pictures and filling in the story behind them yourself.Some of the pictures from the book can be seen here and will be for sale from September 10, 2024 via this site....
