Bound by our intrinsic nature of human being. We belong together and should embrace our common thread, enforce our connection. Our affiliation comes with a duty of concern and care. Humanity and solidarity should trump differences and dissension.

Everyone of us a piece of a boundless human puzzle, surrounded by shadows, an infinitesimal part of the outline that links us all. Single but connected, minuscule and identical from a distance, etched in geometrical shapes, our figures interwoven into an imperfect, corporeal mosaic.

To capture the essence of interaction. Like a snapshot, a momentary pause, a fleeting glance. Large and imprecise brush strokes, washed out contours or small, fat dots of oil.

Faux semblants: How a glimpse at human interaction could be interpreted in very different and contradic-tory ways.
Observing a man and a woman holding each other, without any knowledge of the con-text generally and logically leads to the obvious : categorizing them as friends, lovers, relatives,..
But look again, change your angle and you could interpret the opposite or find darker, meaner feelings.
What looks like a tender embrace could actually be more threatening and non mutual. What we decode as affection marks could be domination traits. Are they really dancing or fighting. Is it innocent spooning or holding forcefully. Her or his closed eyes are they proofs of plenitude or closed for a purpose of not show-ing, not telling. The hand on her shoulder could be a threat in disguise. Is it a caress or a warning. Is it serenity or distress that can be read on her face. Abuse is rarely diagnosed early and we can be a victim of it, witness it without identify-ing it. What we picture as evidence of love is not always a proof of it. Displays of physical affection might be pretense. Even declaration of love can be de-ceiving and the words detoured from their meanings, used as tools. To lose one ‘s heart to someone, to belong to someone don’t mean losing or surrendering to someone. The desire to belong might be reel but not be literal.
But they might also be lovers, lost in a beautiful embrace, feeling fulfilled. experiencing the uniqueness luck of sharing feelings with someone. I guess that is what “Faux sem-blants” (false pretenses) are about.

Failure and Fêlures: I find it meaningful that these two words one French, one English sound almost homonymic when the later could qualify as the consequence of the former.
I just wanted to picture the lasting effects of adult’s failure on related children. How it could affect forever their lives from childhood and ongoing. The resulting fêlures could be small , disrupted or buried. Staying undiscovered , denied or in the contrary acknowledged and addressed. Unconsciously ignored or voluntarily hidden. They might be undetectable at first sight but they are definitively there and can be observed when changing the perspective.
It is just a stillness where everything around is moving, a sudden unexpected empti-ness, an unjustified overreaction. an overwhelmed response. A recreated memory, an overworked imagination, an hypersensitivity. It’s feeling a difference, a temporary void, a desire for something that has never been. From adult failure to children fêlures.

Remembering, feeling nostalgic, distraught.
Three women who convey melancholy.
The color white as un undertone or like a mist clouding over but conjuring sadness with light, hope.
