"I have a variety of subjects from the American Indian to feminist political images and even exercises in landscapes. I prefer the more abstraction although my subjects have not been entirely non-objective. I paint in both oil and acrylics, as well as draw. And often do three dimensional work in wood and marble."
"Although I understand the desire people have to decorate their homes and match their sofas, I feel fine art and collecting contemporary art is more than interior decoration. If that is all someone wants or needs, they should go to a poster shop or hang drapery and carpeting. If someone fears they cannot afford real art, they should consider buying it to hang in their businesses, write it off on their taxes as part of the office decor, the tax man will depreciate it over a few years and voila! they become art patrons just the way big corporations do...then the CEO takes the art home, and so can you!!"
Women have been under represented in shows and history books but that does not mean there are not fabulous and dynamic women artists all over the world... perhaps we need to get together more often, do more shows together, ask galleries to show more, and of course they will if we buy some art! So, buy art! Make art! There is little else more worthy of money, of time, of acquiring than art!"
Leslie also writes fiction, poetry and articles on a wide variety of subjects. Contact her at Artemis Arts po box 40435, Denver, CO 80204 or through leslie
