My watercolors are done in many different ways. Some are on location and some life poses, others from sketchbooks. I rarely use a photo and if I do it's for a reminder with the painting have little resemblence. All are matted.

Biography
Lesley Braren is an artist who lives in East Hampton, Connecticut and has been painting for many years. She is an avid outdoor, plein air painter and works mostly in oils when on location. Les states that she is inspired by being out of doors and the challenge of trying to record a fleeting moment on canvas as only she sees it. She's not so much trying to record an accurate record as trying to convey a personal response to that moment. She enjoys using color and brush strokes to express her vision.

Les feels that she is always changing and growing with her work and will continue to learn as long as she keeps painting. Every time she paints with other artists, goes to a museum, or reads an art magazine or book she finds she is thinking about different ways to appraoch her artwork. It's truly a work in progress and that's what makes it so exciting and fresh. Whether she is actually painting or not she is constantly thinking about the process and so it has beome a large part of her lifestyle.

a wealth of information and my mentor.
Lesley and I work together Land Surveying for many years and before I began painting Lesley would point out the multiple colors in the sky. Only once I began painting did I understand more clearly what she meant.
