Art image bankLaura Segatori, a contemporary Italian painter, is recognized for her keen observations of reality, skillful painting, and expressive drawings. Her artistic journey began as a self-taught artist, driven by an innate passion for capturing the essence of the world around her. It wasn't until later that she made the pivotal decision to formalize her education, enrolling at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
At the Academy, Laura pursued a degree in scenography, demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. Her commitment to excellence was rewarded with honors upon graduation. Initially, she translated her artistic skills into the realm of stage decoration, contributing to various theater and television productions. This early professional experience not only honed her technical proficiency but also imbued her artwork with a unique depth and perspective.
One distinctive aspect of Laura's artistic repertoire is her exploration of the female form. Her paintings reflect a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted nature of womanhood, capturing both strength and fragility. To bring her vision to life, she employs sandy matter and resin, utilizing these materials as expressive tools. The resin, in particular, holds symbolic significance, representing water as a vital element that envelops and protects us from the womb onwards, yet occasionally conveys a sense of suffocation. Laura poetically refers to this material as "frozen lava," a substance that fossilizes and preserves the present moment.
