This minimalist Chinese brush painting depicts young bamboo — a timeless symbol of strength, hope, and upward aspiration. In traditional Chinese and Japanese painting, authentic materials are essential: handmade Xuan rice paper, mineral pigments, and ink. Xuan paper, celebrated for its delicacy and absorbency, is very thin and fragile. For this reason, there is a centuries-old practice of mounting a painting onto an additional layer of paper after completion. This process not only strengthens the artwork but also preserves its colors, prevents wrinkling, and prepares it for display or framing.

I carefully carry out the mounting process myself, following traditional techniques, to ensure each painting retains both its beauty and durability.

Here I used a seal “pure thoughts”.

Ksenia was born in Moldova and holds a degree in pharmacy from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Alongside her scientific studies, she pursued traditional Chinese painting at the Confucius Institute of Moscow...
