Ferrand
I've loved art ever since I was a child, I remember the joy of soggy clay on my hands, of sticky paint on my fingers. I remember being told that flowers don't grow that color and asking why. And that artist should be serious and act mature and again asking WHY?. I have always subscribed to the ancient belief that all things have a soul and energy force. To me every rock, tree, drop of rain, animal and insect are as important to existence as humans. And so I paint , I see so many things that call to me , it's like a whispering on the wind from some mythical beast I can't resist. I strive to capture that emotional essence. That's it , I'm hooked. I am forever changing as are my subjects, I hear in color and see the unseen. I am blessed with the ability to see what most out grow or put aside because 'it is time to grow up'.
I taught at the College of Micronesia in the Pacific & have been involved in the art world in many different incarnations. I chaired the Governor of Pohnpei FSM Endowment of the Arts Program. Among my most notable commissions are portraits for the first President of Micronesia Tosiwo Nakayama , first Governor of Pohnpei Leo Falcam & Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, as well as works in private collections including the Forbes.
My works have sold throughout the Pacific Islands of Hawaii, Guam, the Republic of Palau, Truk, Pohnpei, Yap, The Marshalls and Japan was well as D.C., California, New York and Connecticut. I have recently authored and illustrated several children's books, which currently is my latest incarnation.

A Husky in Paradise
My latest book has been published on Amazon. It is "A Husky In Paradise", and is a guide to Hawaii as shared by a cute fun loving Siberian Husky named Kaia. The story was written for children, but adults also find it entertaining , it is fun , charming and informative. There are 70 hand painted pictures of the Islands and Kaia in the book . A Husky in Paradise is my fourth children's book.
Does a painting depict the world of the painter and nothing else
A painting depicts the perception of the world by the person creating it. Be it real or fantasy, we all view with unique eyes , that is why we paint or draw , to share that vision of ours with others. Step into my world , make yourself at home. It may not be the way you see the world but isn't it wonderful that we can appreciate each other's worlds. I can't wait to see where it leads us.
