Painting: Oil on Canvas.

Original oil, semi-abstract forest painting.
I was inspired by Fauvism direction, specifically by the artworks of Andre Derain.
Play of sunlight on the trees and branches in the forest. It creates almost an abstract impression.
Hot reds and cool blue create lively contrast in the artwork. I hope to provoke a happy joyful mood of coming spring. The outline of birch brunches resembles an effect of stained glass.
Painting is wired for hanging with professional hardware.
Artwork does not require framing, it is done on the gallery stretched canvas with sides painted in black.

Julia Hacker is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist. She is working in a variety of traditional and mixed mediums, including oil, acrylic paint, handmade collage, and illustration. Hacker is an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Artists and a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her artworks are in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.

Julia Hacker's art and her life are intertwined. She desires to learn how to live in the moment, and to search for awareness. The artist draws inspiration from the immediate world around,  rhythmic changes in nature, close encounters with the vagaries of human emotion. While creating, the artist is thinking about the detached creative destruction in mother nature, knowing that eventually, it will bring to new growth.
