Arequipa - Peru, known as the white city was founded over three hundred and fifty years ago by the Spanish conquistadores. Situated in the central cordillera of the Andes (7800ft), it is a quiet city struggling to reconcile the glorious past, and the undertain future.
The Santa Catalina Monestary provides a respite from work, travel and congestion - i found it to be an ideal place to photograph one afternoon in April.

The people of Peru are kind and geneorous.
During eight weeks in April & May 2005, I travelled from Lima, down the coast to Nasca, Puerto Inca, then Inland to Arequipa, Cusco and into the Amazon before heading to Lake Titkaka in Bolivia.
The express purpose of the endeavor was to photograph the people, places and things which make Peru, inddescribably wonderfull.
