John Vesty is a contemporary painter based in France. He enjoys examining contrasts in life, such as those between black & white and color, the genuine and the illusion, etc. His work uses incongruity, humor, and occasionally inanimate things as stand-ins to highlight aspects of human behavior and emotions. Part of his work is conceptual, part of it is inspired from retinal observation. He has started sculpting in both wood and stone during the past five years, venturing into the unknown with the intention of addressing those aspects of himself that require both 3 dimensions and a less sedentary form of expression. Recently, he has also worked on the human figure from life, a topic that offers limitless potential and through which he hopes to produce artworks that attempt to induce a stilling pause or a smile of recognition amid the monotonous routine of everyday life.
