2. Main features
“Urban Gaze” is an abstract representation of the real world landscape. The shapes of the sun, clouds, city, and river are difficult to clearly distinguish and are a mixture of various colors and shapes. These abstractions provide the viewer with room for a variety of interpretations.
Use of Color: “Urban Gaze” uses a variety of colors to create a vivid and dynamic atmosphere. In particular, primary colors such as red, yellow, and blue are used a lot, creating a strong visual effect. Additionally, spatial depth is expressed through the contrast of light and dark colors.
Composition: “Urban Gaze” is organized around a white circle located in the center. This white circle can be interpreted as symbolizing the sun, or simply as acting as a visual focal point. Additionally, elements of various shapes and colors are arranged in a balanced manner around the white circle.

3. Interpretation

Jeongyeon Kim was born in 2001 and is one of the most prominent young painters in the Korean contemporary art scene. His work is known for simplifying complex elements of nature and reinterpreting them into geometric forms. Kim Jeongyeon creates a new abstract landscape by decomposing nature into simple color planes and forms and reconstructing them from his own unique perspective.
His process of work begins with deep contemplation and observation. Kim Jeongyeon spends time in nature, exploring the order, chaos, beauty and harshness inherent in it. Drawing on these experiences, he expresses the complexity of nature on canvas in a simplified way of color, lines, and planes. In his works, the harmony and contrast of light and shadow, color harmony and contrast, texture and the feeling of space are delicately tuned, creating the illusion that the viewer is actually experiencing nature.
