Géologie :
Bien qu’appelé « Marbre noir », il s'agit, en fait, d'un calcaire très fin, riche en matières organiques d’où son noir remarquable, qui se caractérise par la rareté des fossiles et des veines de calcite.

Cette approche est cousine de la « Paréidolie », illusion subjective, qui permet à chacun de voir dans un même objet une forme différente.
