Jean-Louis BARTHELEMY was born on december the 15th 1944 in Paris.
His father, Louis Charles BARTHELEMY, was a picture framer and settled in the Germain Pilon Street, very next to the Abesses Place and the 'Butte Montmartre'. Encouraged by the artists he was used to see permanently and with the emulation , he began a painter career and specialized himself in urban landscape and marines. That what gives him the honor to be present in the painter bible, the Bénézit. A whole artistic world was living in this animated district : painters, sculptors, writers, restorers, cabinetmakers and a lot of other trade associations. Therefore JLB spent his childhood in this neighborhood, where he didn't fail to take his first steps in drawing where he excelled, then in painting later. However, his father left the 'Butte Monmartre' at the end of the 60's. That made the artistics projects to which he could have claimed, decreased by intensity and ever disappeared.
When he came back from the army in 1966, still worried by he need of creativity, he started an informatic career(which was only at its beginning in France). This career lasted for 32 years but he never gave up his first passion. These 32 years will be studded with some transitory works, composed by paintings with watercolour or oil, but nothing very significant.
Since 2001, he decided to put an end to his professional activities and to dedicate his entire person to his art. His painting his fundamentally realistic and rich in color. His painting does not belong to any artistic stream, his style is making progress with a whole independancy. This independancy can be also found in the treated subjects, where the artist play again on the plurality and he doesn't let himself keep in confinement inside a single painting theme.
