After a year of innovation, incredible artwork and so much change for our industry, Art Toronto is thrilled to announce a hybrid plan for the fair in 2021, with an in-person event October 29-31 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, complemented by an online fair from October 29 to November 7. 

Since 2000, we have been dedicated to supporting art in Canada, connecting audiences to local, national and international galleries, and promoting diverse creative practices.  Art Toronto 2021 is evolving  to include both an event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and a virtual exhibition,   open to galleries and audiences across the country and beyond. 

The Art Toronto head office and event space  are located on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.  

As a Canadian arts organization, we are dedicated to supporting the vibrancy, diversity and wellbeing of artists, makers, curators, gallerists and collectors from across the country including First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, alongside immigrant communities who have gathered here from around the world. We are committed to sharing their work and stories with fellow Canadians and international audiences. We strive to shed racial bias as an organization and are focused on supporting creative practices that better reflect the diversity of Canada. 

Caring for our community and for the environment are both important to us. Recognizing the need to work together to combat climate change, we collaborate with our partners, suppliers and exhibitors to reduce, reuse and recycle. Some of our initiatives include:  

• Powering the event with renewable energy   

• Reducing waste through measures such as removing aisle carpet, VIP cards and reducing vinyl signage by 50% used onsite with a goal to eliminate entirely by 2023  

• Reusing booth hard walls, plinths and platforms from year to year, and recycling materials such as rugs and signage   

• Ensuring that composting and recycling bins are available onsite at the fair  

• Supporting our host venue, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s sustainability program (learn more about their program by clicking here)    

We continue to strive to do more and better—looking to 2022, we plan to eliminate single-use plastics (eg. bottled water) and vinyl signage at Art Toronto.   

Art Toronto is committed to the health and safety of all guests and exhibitors. Measures in place for the 2021 event include an updated floorplan with wider aisles, mandatory masking, time-entry with crowd control measures and adhering to Ontario’s COVID vaccine passport system. Please note measures are reviewed frequently and may be updated closer to the show to meet the needs of the time.
