Religion has for a long time occupied a preponderant place in the life and in the mental universe of men in search of spirituality. This explains why the works of the past referring to it are so numerous in painting. Adam, Eve, Noah, Jesus, Mary, Moses, Buddha… So many sacred figures from the texts of the great monotheistic or pagan religions: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam… and which we find represented on many paintings. The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci or the ceiling fresco of the Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo are among the most illustrious testimonies of this religious artistic heritage.
